Lucas Miedler and Alexander Erler are at the ATP Challenger tournament in Warsaw

Dominic Thiem has already declared the current season over due to his wrist injury, Dennis Novak is still at home in Austria because of his recently born child and Jurij Rodionov and Sebastian Ofner are currently trying their hand at the preliminary rounds for the US Open, which at least for the Lower Austrian already once started well. Austria's top doubles Oliver Marach and Philipp Oswald are also currently at work in North America and are already in round two of the preparatory tournament in Winston-Salem. After that, the Styrians and Vorarlbergers will go to the last Grand Slam tournament of the year.

Also Leo Borg in Warsaw

But tennis is also being played hard in Europe at the moment, albeit a notch lower at Challenger level. Austrian participation can currently be found at the clay court event in Warsaw. Both Lucas Miedler (ATP 327) and Alexander Erler (ATP 323) are in action at the BNP Paribas Poland Open. Due to the bad weather in Central Europe, there were delays in the schedule in the Polish capital - but tomorrow all first-round games will finally be played. While Miedler has to start against the Croatian Duje Ajdukovic (ATP 253), Erler opens against the Argentine Nicolas Kicker (ATP 292).

In the double competition, the Lower Austrian and the Tyrolean start together. The two get up against the German-Dutch couple Julian Lenz and Sem Verbeek. A prominent name can also be read on the tournament grid in Warsaw: Leo Borg, son of legend Björn Borg, who entered the tournament with a wildcard, will kick off against top seeded Daniel Altmaier, who recently won two ATP Challenger tournaments (Braunschweig, Lüdenscheid ) could decide for themselves.
