Andy Murray starts in Cincinnati with a wildcard

As a fan of Andy Murray it's not so easy anymore, since the Scot had to undergo several hip operations. It feels like every week one expects the bad news that the former number one in the ATP rankings could hang up his racket. And so you dumbbell from tournament to tournament and happily take with you everything that the man with the iron hip might offer his loyal followers.

Accordingly, there is reason to be happy after the announcement of at least two wildcards for the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Cincinnati. In addition to the US next-gen hope Sebastian Korda, Sir Andy was also given a license for the main competition of the hard court event in the US state of Ohio. Apart from Dominic Thiem, all of the top 20 players in the ATP rankings in North America are currently named.

Cincinnati is good ground for the hard-nosed Scotsman, as he has already lifted the trophy of the highly endowed tournament twice (2008, 2011). In last year's edition of the event, which had to be held in New York due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Murray defeated Alexander Zverev in three sets in the second round to fail against Milos Raonic in the round of 16.
