In the first game of the day in the Lanxess Arena, Sinner made short work of Pierre Hugues Herbert at 6: 3 and 6: 1. The South Tyrolean took time off last week and will face the winner of the game between Denis Shapovalov and Gilles Simon in the quarter-finals on Friday.

Andreas Mies and Kevin Krawietz, on the other hand, celebrated their maiden win after they progressed without a fight on Wednesday because the two Spaniards Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and Fernando Verdasco could not compete. The two-time French Open champions Krawietz / Mies defeated Alexander and Mischa Zverev 6: 4 and 7: 5.
