Dennis Novak lost out to Oscar Otte

Originally, Dennis Novak should have played against Danilo Petrovic in the first round of Cologne, the Serbian could not compete in the first round duel due to an injury. Oscar Otte, who had given up in qualifying due to ankle problems, got a second chance in the cathedral city.

The German knew how to use this in the best possible way: the world ranking 141. Novak only gave a chance at the beginning of each set in the 6: 3 and 6: 2 successes, but in the end, after just over an hour of play, the lucky loser had a clear success.

In the second round, Otte will meet Diego Schwartzman, who is second, and Novak will continue next week thanks to a wildcard at the ATP 500 tournament in Vienna.
