Davis Cup captain Jürgen Melzer will also be happy about that: Jurij Rodionov, who is scheduled to serve as Austrian number two in the international match in South Korea at the beginning of March, has reached the main draw at the ATP Tour 250 tournament in Dallas with two strong performances. Rodionov, who beat USA's Liam Krall in straight sets in round one, beat Taiwan's Jason Jung 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 on Monday.

Rodionov had recently secured the only point of the weekend for Austria in the Davis Cup final round in Innsbruck by beating Dominik Koepfer. Rodionov's opponent in Dallas will be assigned only after the completion of all qualifying matches.

The seeded list is led by Talyor Fritz ahead of his compatriots Reilly Opelka and John Isner. From Germany Oscar Otte, Peter Gojowczyk (a possible opponent of Rodionov) and Daniel Altmaier are represented in the main draw. Otte and Altmaier have been nominated for the Davis Cup meeting in Brazil.
