ATP: David Goffin wins title in Montpellier

David Goffin won the ATP Tour 250 tournament in Montpellier. The Belgian defeated Roberto Bautista Agut 5: 7, 6: 4 and 6.2.

Bautista Agut and Goffin formed the first final in tournament history in Montpellier in which there was no French. The Spaniard got off to a strong start and after half an hour of play he served 5: 3 on winning the set. Goffin managed the rebreak, leveled with a little effort to 5: 5. The first round went to the favorite, who made another break in the twelfth game.

In the second set Goffin got off to a better start - he took a 1-0 lead with a break. And kept this lead until the sentence was equalized. The same game in the decisive round: Again Goffin struck at the first service game Bautista Aguts, managed another break to make it 5: 2. In the last game Goffin had to fend off a breakball, but closed the sack after a playing time of 2:05 hours.

For Goffin this is the fifth tournament victory on the ATP tour. The last one to date was in Tokyo in 2017.

Henri Kontinen and Edouard Roger Vasselin had previously won the doubles title with a win against Jonathan Erlich and Andrei Vasilevski.
