Success experience for Dennis Novak in Montpellier: The Austrian struggled against local hero Gilles Simon for almost two and a half hours, finally prevailing 7: 6 (5), 1: 6 and 6: 3. Novak was able to take his opponent's serve four times and hit four aces. The French veteran managed one more break, but in the end Novak was still ahead. And in lap two he will face third-placed Serb Dusan Lajovic.
Roberto Bautista Agut is the tournament favorite, followed by David Goffin as number two. If Dennis Novak wins against Lajovic, he will face either Jiri Vesely or Peter Gojowczyk in the quarter-finals. The latter decided the purely German duel against Jan-Lennard Struff for himself in two sets.
