ATP Doha: Struff loses right at the start
The German number 2 certainly imagined it differently: For Jan-Lennard Struff, the tournament in Doha is already over. The Warsteiner lost to the Australian Christopher O'Connell in two sets.

How is Jan-Lennard Struff really in shape at the moment ? There is currently no quick answer to this. Struff has already won a few close matches this year, but the big breakout is missing. However, his performance in Doha now raises concerns that his form curve is pointing downwards.
Marterer moves into the main field - and loses
In Doha, the 33-year-old failed at his opening hurdle. The German number two, the sixth seed in Doha, lost to the Australian Christopher O'Connell 4:6, 4:6. Most recently, Warsteiner Struff was eliminated in the round of 16 at the tournament in Rotterdam.
For Maximilian Marterer (Nuremberg) it was also over in Qatar after the first round. The 28-year-old lost 6:7 (5) and 5:7 against Frenchman Hugo Grenier. Marterer only moved up to the main field after the Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor withdrew. There are no other German professionals at the start in Doha.
