Dominic Thiem's plans for the first few months of 2022 are becoming more specific. As the organizers of the ATP Tour 250 tournament in Buenos Aires announced on social networks, the Austrian will reach for his third title in the Argentine capital next February. In 2018 Thiem won there in the final against Aljaz Bedene, two years earlier against Nicolas Almagro. In the tie-break of the third set (as in the semifinals against Rafael Nadal).
The start of the comeback should still take place at the ATP Cup in Sydney, Thiem also did not rule out another tournament at a press conference a few days ago in the week before the Australian Open 2022. The first major of the season begins on January 17th.
Does Thiem also play in Rio de Janeiro?
The competitions in Buenos Aires will start on February 7th, followed by the ATP Tour 500 event in Rio de Janeiro. It can be assumed that Thiem will also take this event with him. Especially since he also won the title under the Sugar Loaf in 2017.
The use at the exhibition tournament in Abu Dhabi, however, came too early. Dominic Thiem should have played against Andy Murray there yesterday, Thursday. The 2020 US Open winner preferred to train for a few more days in Dubai.
