It will be the first encounter between Zverev and O'Connell. The 28-year-old Australian qualified for the round of 16 with a win against Emil Ruusuvuori, Zverev beat Jiri Lehecka in three sets at the start.
For the German number one, it will also be about finally celebrating a second win in a row at an event. Zvever hadn't managed that at the Australian Open, at the Davis Cup or most recently in Rotterdam.
