The Croatian is one of the few players on the tour who has been able to take the Maestro well so far. It is 2: 2 in the internal balance sheet, the 22-year-old has won the last two matches: 2018 in the final of Halle and in the semi-final of Shanghai. Federer won in Dubai in 2015 and Indian Wells in 2018.
"I am pleased that Borna understood his game. This is very important at the top level if you want to win the big tournaments," said the Swiss after his semi-finals.
Coric three times nervous
Federer had previously presented himself more with struggle than with glamor in Dubai, under difficult conditions with a lot of wind, winning first in three sets against Philipp Kohlschreiber, then against Fernando Verdasco and on Thursday in just two sets against Marton Fucsovics.
Coric, as world rankings-13. just one place behind his career high, won against Jiri Vesely, Tomas Berdch and Nikoloz Basilashvili - each in the tie break of set three.
The game between Federer and Coric is scheduled for 7 p.m. local time, i.e. 4 p.m. CET. Previously, Stefanos Tsitsipas played against Gael Monfils.
