Medvedev clearly beat his compatriot Andrey Rublev 6: 2, 6: 2 - and showed a spotless performance. Rublev, who won the last two encounters between the two (but the record was 2:4), didn't stand a chance this time.

As usual, Medvedvev hardly made any mistakes and in the end played himself into a real frenzy. /

In the end there were only 8 unforced errors with 19 winners (Rublev: 22 with 13 winning strokes), Medvedev did not allow a breakball at all. He used 4 of his 7 chances himself.

For the former world number one, it is the 17th tournament victory of his career.

And the third in a row.

"The beginning of the year wasn't so good, and if you don't win in tennis, doubts come very quickly," said Medvedev, who was extremely happy after the win. Sometimes you think too much in tennis and it doesn't work out, but when it's going well, it almost happens by itself, then even risky actions work out. "Like the first match point, when I tried something crazy. Unfortunately, it didn't work."
