In the semi-finals of the grass tournament in Eastbourne, UK, two surprisingly strong lucky losers have now come to an end: After the number three of the event, Lorenzo Sonego, beat Australian Max Purcell 6: 1, 3: 6, 6: 1 , won Alex de Minaur 6: 3, 7: 6 (2) against the South Korean Soonwoo Kwon.
While Sonego was already able to achieve a tournament victory on green ground at the Antalya Open, which was still held on grass in 2019, it would be the first full success on grass for the two men from "down under". De Minaur has so far only been able to win all of his four titles on hard court.
Head-to-head between the two opponents is 1-0 for the four years younger men from Sydney. Sonego defeated number 18 in the ATP rankings in the second round of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Paris in two sets 6: 3, 7: 5.
