While almost the entire tennis world was looking to Paris for the French Open draw, Alexander Zverev had completely different concerns at the time. The German was in a tough fight with Hugo Dellien in the Geneva quarter-finals, which the 22-year-old was only able to win after almost 2:30 hours of play.

As in previous tournaments, Zverev had an extremely difficult time, the fifth in the world rankings played weakly and made a huge number of uncommon mistakes. In the first set, the German converted a 3: 5 deficit into a 7: 5, in the second round he should no longer succeed in this feat: Dellien won the set 6: 3.

At the beginning of the third section, both players had to fend off breakballs before Zverev made the break 3-1. Subsequently, the youngster acted confidently on his own serve and secured the 7: 5, 3: 6 and 6: 3 success. In the semifinals, the top seed meets Federico Delbonis or Albert Ramos-Vinolas.

After the success over the man from Bolivia, Zverev should also have had a look at the draw in Paris. The German is in the district of Novak Djokovic and meets John Millman at the start .
