Dominic Thiem has been waiting for his first victory since his comeback, the next opportunity is at the ATP 250 tournament in Geneva. In any case, the draw did not mean it badly with the US Open winner of 2020: Thiem met a qualifier in Switzerland at the start.

If he won, the Lower Austrian would face Kamil Majchrzak or Alexander Bublik. Potential quarter-final opponent is world number two Daniil Medvedev, who will return to the ATP tour in Geneva after his groin operation. With Denis Shapovalov, number three of the tournament also ended up in the top half.

Stan Wawrinka, who canceled his start shortly before the draw for currently unknown reasons, will be absent. "It's a disappointment. We're in Switzerland, he won the tournament twice, he was the ambassador for three years. Unfortunately, he's injured. It's happening," tournament director Thierry Grin told AFP news agency.
