At the age of 31, Grigor Dimitrov is definitely no longer one of the very young shooting stars of tennis. Whether his playing system was often dubbed "Baby Federer" in his early years, the Bulgarian has emancipated himself and his career from the big role model over time. With a career best third place, success at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Cincinnati and triumph at the ATP Finals in 2017, Dimitrov has already achieved a lot. However, the Southeast Slav has so far been denied a title in a Grand Slam tournament.

"Sometimes you have to go a different way"

The current world number 22 holds a success in Roland Garros. no longer very likely, "Dimi" sees the real chances in the three remaining major events in Melbourne, New York and London. In any case, Dimitrov was confident about the platform tennishead.net : "Of course I still believe in it. I had good results in the last slams. Now unfortunately I have to play against very, very good players in the second or third round. But I do think I can get through this and who knows when, what and where?"

"You never know which week is going to be decisive. And we know how volatile everything can be and how easily everything can change from one week to the next, point to point. Of course it's a bit frustrating because you know what one would actually be able to achieve. And there are only a few things here and there that are not yet successful. But that's part of it. I've been on the tour for 13 years, which also shows a certain consistency. It is for sure It's not an easy sport and sometimes you have to take a slightly different path."
