Casper Ruud could win his second title in Gstaad within a few days

Benoit Paire has shown really good tennis in the last few weeks, but in the quarter-finals of the ATP World Tour 250 event in Gstaad (Switzerland) it was not good enough for Casper Ruud, who was in a row of three. The Norwegian prevailed after 1:49 hours with 6: 2, 5: 7 and 6: 3 and thus has excellent chances of clinching his second tournament victory in a row. The 22-year-old Scandinavian won the clay court event in Bastad (Sweden) last week.

In the semifinals, Ruud will now face the qualifier Vit Kopriva from the Czech Republic. The mare, who comes from the same town as Petra Kvitova, has so far mainly been in action at the Challenger level, but was able to take the world number tenth Denis Shapovalov out of the tournament in the last sixteen in the Swiss Alps and finished Friday in the last round Eight Mikael Ymer from Sweden 6: 1, 6: 0.

Two Swiss still in doubles

The second ticket to the final is played by the Frenchman Hugo Gaston and the Serbian Laslo Djere. Gaston defeated Cristian Garin from Chile, who had four in a row, in three rounds, the tiebreak in the third set was a very tight box for the 20-year-old from Toulouse at 13:11 - he also had to fend off a total of four match points against the South American. Djere prevailed against compatriot Gaston's Arthur Rinderknech 6: 4, 6: 7 (5), 6: 4.

The Swiss top talent Dominic Stephan Stricker will also be in action tomorrow - albeit in a double competition. Together with Marc-Andrea Huesler (also from Switzerland) he meets the French duo Benoit Couples / Arthur Rinderknech.
