Gael Monfils, always in danger of a final since 2005

Gael Monfils has reached 30 finali during his career on the ATP tour, the most recent one yesterday in Montpellier, where he won two sets against Vasek Pospisil. Third title in Montpellier, the ninth overall. A good, but far from an outstanding record. Especially with Monfils no Grand Slam tournament success and no victory at an ATP Masters 1000 event are recorded in the balance sheet.

But: As of now, the 32-year-old Frenchman is in second place in a very specific ATP rating, ex aequo with Rafael Nadal. Both have reached at least one final on the tour in 16 consecutive years - but if the Spanish world ranking second reached a final in the course of the 2020 season, he would pass Monfils. Its series started in 2004, that of Monfils in 2005.

Federer in a final at least once since 2000

Novak Djokovic , who was on the court for the first time in the last match of an ATP tournament in 2006, is at odds with the later birth, rather the later entry into the final business. And in this regard 2020 can already make a catch after his semi-final triumph at the Australian Open. But of course the Serbian industry leader has a completely different championship compared to Gael Monfils: After all, Djokovic (in addition to his 16-0 in head-to-head) has already won 78 titles, 17 of them with the majors.

The list of successive final years is led by Roger Federer , who has come at least once since 2000. 103 tournament victories have been recorded for the now 38-year-old, but in the young 2020 season there is still no entry into a final to continue the impressive series. Dominic Thiem , by the way, has already had seven final years, starting in 2014 in Kitzbühel.
