So it didn't turn out to be Boris Becker after all. The three-time Wimbledon champion had repeatedly been brought into play as the new super coach by Jannik Sinner in recent weeks, reportedly even at the suggestion of Riccardo Piatti. But Sinner has now parted with that very thing. And, if you can believe Italian media reports from Monday, decided on Magnus Norman as the new trainer.

There is no doubt that the Swede is a good choice. Norman, who himself rose to second place in the ATP world rankings during his playing days, celebrated great success as Stan Wawrinka's coach. Wawrinka won a total of 13 titles with Norman, three of them at majors: 2014 at the Australian Open, 2015 in Roland Garros and 2016 at the US Open.

Sinner loses to Tsitsipas in Melbourne

After separating from Wawrinka, Magnus Norman was loosely involved in Aryna Sabalenka's support team, now the founder of the "Good to Great Tennis Academy" seems to be on the way back to ATP events.

With Jannik Sinner, Norman gets a protégé who made it into the top ten players in the world for the first time last year. The start of the season also went well for the South Tyrolean: After a very strong ATP Cup, in which Sinner won all his individual games, the now 20-year-old reached the quarterfinals of the Australian Open. There Sinner then lost in three sets to Stefanos Tsitsipas .
