Holger Rune is still two wins away from his second career title in Lyon

Admittedly, anchoring Holger Rune's triumph in Munich in May is a bit cheeky. After all, only the final took place in the current month. But Rune decided that against a weakened Botic van de Zandschulp and received a formidable car in addition to leather pants and the winner's check. The 19-year-old still lacks a driver's license to move it.

No vehicle is offered as the main prize in Lyon, but Holger Rune would still like to take the tournament victory with him. As a boost for the French Open. Last year Stefanos Tsitsipas won in Lyon, the Greek then reached the semifinals in Roland Garros. Rune will probably not start the second major of the year quite so boldly. And he still hasn't won the title in Lyon. Because first the semifinals against tournament favorite Cameron Norrie, who was on the court for 2:40 hours against Sebastian Baez, are waiting.

Rune afflicted with convulsions

In the quarterfinals against Frenchman Manuel Guinard, who had to finish his match against Michael Mmoh earlier in the day, Rune just managed to save himself over time. And was plagued by cramps even before match point.

In the lower half of the tableau, fourth seeded Alex de Minaur and Alex Molcan will play for the second vacant place in the final this Friday. Molcan safely defeated Federico Coria 6: 3 and 6: 2 on Thursday, de Minaur benefited from the surrender of the Japanese Yosuke Watanuki after winning the first set.
