ATP Madrid: Matteo Berrettini follows Alexander Zverev into the final

Matteo Berrettini is therefore the final opponent of Alexander Zverev on his way to the second title at the ATP Masters event in Madrid. The Italian defeated the Norwegian clay court specialist Casper Ruud in two sets on Saturday evening.

In the end, two breaks were enough for the Roman. The first towards the end of the first round, which Berrettini - who had already delivered excellent service throughout the tournament - was able to win the set.

Berrettini triumphs in Belgrade

In the second round Berrettini succeeded in the seventh game thanks to a powerful forehand - the next characteristic in the game of the Itralian - the decisive break. With 6: 4 Berrettini finally closed the sack in set two.

Berrettini confirms his strong form, just a few weeks ago the 25-year-old triumphed in Belgrade. Now it is time to defeat Alexander Zverev, who knocked Dominic Thiem out of the tournament on Saturday, if Berrettini now wants to add his biggest career title.
