Local hero Benjamin Bonzi fought off Hubert Hurkacz for almost exactly 90 minutes in the final of the ATP Tour 250 tournament in Marseille. Then Bonzi, the number one of the tournament, had to admit defeat with 3:6 and 6:7 (4). For Hurkacz it was the sixth ATP title of his career.
Most recently, Hurkacz had been successful in HalleWestfalen, where he defeated Daniil Medvedev in the final. the triumph in Marseille was the first indoor for the 26-year-old from Wroclaw.
In doubles, Santiago Gonzalez and Edouard Roger-Vasselin beat Fabrice Martin and Nicolas Mahut 4-6, 7-6 (4) and 10-7.
