Andy Murray is in round two in Indian Wells

Andy Murray has had to go the full distance seven times this season, including in the Instant Classics against Thanasi Kokkinakis and Matteo Berrettini at the Australian Open. Murray didn't make it quite as exciting as the first major of the year in Indian Wells, but Tomas Etcheverry also demanded everything from the Scottish veteran. In the end, however, Murray scored 6: 7 (5), 6: 1 and 6: 4, who remained undefeated in decisive sets in 2023.

The next opponent will now be Pablo Carreno Busta, who, like all seeded players, enjoyed a bye in round one.

Zverev and Tsitsipas in action today

Another veteran had nothing to gain: Fabio Fognini was allowed to compete with the young American Ben Shelton, but saw no land against the left-hander. Shelton won 6: 4 and 6: 1 thanks to his serve, which Fognini could hardly return, and played against defending champion Taylor Fritz in round two.

The first favorites for the title are just getting into the action in Indian Wells today. Stefanos Tsitsipas gets involved with Jordan Thompson, Alexander Zverev plays against Pedro Cachin (from around 11 p.m. live on TV and live stream on Sky and in our live ticker).
