ATP Masters Indian Wells: Tsitsipas with a shaky victory, Kyrgios sovereign
Stefanos Tsitsipas advanced to the third round of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Indian Wells with a wafer-thin victory against Jack Sock. On the other hand, Nick Kyrgios had a lot of fun with Federico Delbonis.

Exactly why fireworks were conjured up in the evening sky over the facility in Indian Wells when Nick Kyrgios was 6: 2 and 3: 0 against Federico Delbonis has to be determined more precisely. Because although Kyrgios also won the second set 6: 2, the Australian delivered a very confident performance at the end of the day, but compared to Kyrgios' demands it was almost business-like routine.
That could change in the third round at the first ATP Masters 1000 tournament of the year: Nick Kyrgios meets Casper Ruud there. Kyrgios had lost his nerve against the Norwegian in Rome in 2019, and in the heat of the verbal arguments with the referee he finally threw a chair on the court. Ruud wasn't amused, demanding a suspension for Kyrgios at the time. The man from Canberra doesn't usually forget something like that.
Tsitsipas now against Brooksby
Stefanos Tsitsipas had completely different concerns against Jack Sock. The Greek had to go the full distance before claiming 7-6 (5), 3-6 and 7-6 (5). In the end, it was two relatively simple mistakes by Sock that allowed Tsitsipas to progress. And a meeting with Jenson Brooksby, who was able to hold his own against Karen Khachanov in straight sets.
Jannik Sinner also had no problems in the 6: 3 and 6: 3 against Laslo Djere. Meanwhile, Sinner's compatriot Lorenzo Sonego lost to Benjamin Bonzi. And Denis Shapovalov advanced to the third round with a three-set win over Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.
