And there they did it again! Aslan Karatsev and Andrey Rublev remain undefeated as a couple, winning in the semifinals of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Indian Wells Tim Pütz and Michael Venus 6: 3, 4: 6 and 10: 5. After winning the tournament in Doha at the beginning of the year, a much bigger coup could now follow for the two Russians. The final is against John Peers and Filip Polasek - in contrast to Karatsev and Rublev, two proven double experts.
Whereby: At the Olympic Games in Tokyo there was the big final in mixed doubles, with the better ending for Rublev on the side of Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. Karatsev competed in Japan with Elena Vesnina. The next tasks await both at home: Both Rublev and Karatsev have named for the ATP Tour 250 event in Moscow. Should the two also compete in doubles, then Rublev's choice could fall back on standard partner Karen Khachanov.
The final opponents in Indian Wells are not to be underestimated: Because Peers / Polasek made short work of the outstanding couple of the year, Nikola Mektic and Mate Pavic, in the quarter-finals.
