ATP Masters Madrid: Matteo Berrettini and Casper Ruud contest second semifinals

Matteo Berrettini and Casper Ruud will face each other in the second semifinals of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Madrid. The Italian had to fight a lot more than the Norwegian in his quarter-final game.

In the day session, Dominic Thiem and Alexander Zverev had already qualified for the semifinals, in the evening the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Madrid was about the last two semi-final tickets. First Casper Ruud and Alexander Bublik faced each other before Matteo Berrettini and Cristian Garin rounded off the quarter-finals.

The first game of the night session started evenly, before Ruud managed the break to make it 7: 5 at the decisive moment. Then the will of Bublik was broken, his Norwegian opponent secured the second round with 6: 1 and was thus able to seamlessly build on the performance of his round of 16 encounter against Stefanos Tsitsipas.

This was also achieved at the beginning of the last semi-final meeting, Cristian Garin, who had taken world number three Daniil Medvedev out of the tournament on Thursday. The Chilean secured the first section 7: 5 and was already in the second set with a break and 3: 1 lead. Then tore at the world rankings-25. but completely the thread.

Garin lost the next eleven games and consequently had to admit defeat 7: 5, 3: 6 and 0: 6. Berrettini, on the other hand, was able to look forward to a great comeback victory and, like his Ruud, will play for his first final at the ATP Masters 1000 level tomorrow from 9:30 p.m.
