ATP Masters Madrid: Stefanos Tsitsipas after defeating Andrey Rublev in the semifinals
Stefanos Tsitsipas has reached the semifinals of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Madrid. The Greek beat Andrey Rublev 6:3, 2:6 and 6:4.

Stefanos Tsitsipas is in the semifinals of the ATP Masters 1000 event in Madrid: The Greek, who had already won the tournament in Monte Carlo at the beginning of the clay court season, defeated Andrey Rublev in the first night session game on Friday with 6 :3, 2:6 and 6:4.

Everything went according to plan for Tsitsipas in the Caja Magica, thanks to an early break to make it 2-0, he confidently won the first set 6-3. In the second period, however, the tide turned: Rublev now acted much more aggressively and only conceded two game wins to his opponent.
Tsitsipas strikes late
In the all-important third set, Rublev first fended off a breakball when the score was 3: 3, but Tsitsipas struck two games later. The fifth in the world rankings then served after a little less than two hours of play for a 6: 3, 2: 6 and 6: 4 success.
In the semi-finals on Saturday, Tsitsipas meets the winner of the game between Alexander Zverev and Felix Auger-Aliassime ( here in the live ticker ). The upper half semifinals feature Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz .
