Carlos Alcaraz still has the chance to defend his title from the previous year at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Miami. The Spanish world number one held his own in the round of 16 against Tommy Paul with 6: 4 and 6: 4. In the quarterfinals, the 19-year-old now meets Taylor Fritz, who beat Holger Rune in straight sets.

While Alcaraz confidently advanced to the next round, Stefanos Tsitsipas was eliminated in the round of 16. The number two of the tournament lost to Karen Khachanov 6:7 (4) and 4:6. However, as in Indian Wells, the Greek was obviously struggling with shoulder problems. Khachanov now meets Lorenzo Sonego or Francisco Cerundolo.
