Daniil Medvedev is also in the final of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Miami

If one were not aware of the circumstances, that Novak Djokovic was denied entry to the USA and Rafael Nadal is still suffering from the after-effects of his lumbar muscle injury, one could currently get the impression that only Daniil Medvedev and Carlos Alcaraz are the professional gentlemen's fortunes - would steer tennis. The Russian is already in the final at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Miami, which he was able to achieve with a three-set win over his compatriot Karen Khachanov.

After 2:18 hours of play and quite strong resistance from his opponent, "Meddy" finally prevailed 7:6 (5), 3:6, 6:3 and is in the fifth tournament in a row in the same number of finals. While the tournament was won in Rotterdam, Doha and Dubai, the 2021 US Open champion had to admit defeat to the 19-year-old man from Murcia 2: 6, 3: 6 in the Indian Wells final.

Now there could be another duel between Medvedev and Alcaraz on the final Sunday if the Spaniard can successfully make his semi-final duel against Jannik Sinner from South Tyrol. The 27-year-old from Moscow could overtake the Norwegian Casper Ruud in the ATP ranking with the title at the Combined event in the US state of Florida and be number four in international men's tennis from next Monday.
