The rain threw up late Tuesday's schedule, meaning Daniil Medvedev and Quentin Halys were unable to play their round of 16 match until after midnight. Who could blame Medvedev for giving the few remaining spectators only a brief treat and winning 6: 3 and 6: 2? Medvedev has played a lot in the past few weeks, his winning streak was only stopped in the Indian Wells final by Carlos Alcaraz. Before that, the 2021 US Open champion had won the tournaments in Rotterdam, Doha and Dubai.

In the quarter-finals in Miami, Daniil Medvedev now has to deal with a surprise man: Christopher Eubanks, who had to fight his way into the main draw via qualification, won against Adrian Mannarino 7: 6 (2) and 7: 6 (5).

Also Sinner and Alcaraz in the quarterfinals

Francisco Cerundolo, who surprisingly reached the semi-finals in Miami a year ago, is also further along. The Argentinian, winner of round three against Félix Auger-Aliassime, made a remarkable comeback against Lorenzo Sonego, winning 3-6, 6-3 and 6-2. Cerundolo now meets Karen Khachanov, who was successful in two sets against Stefanos Tsitsipas.

In the upper half of the tableau, Carlos Alcaraz and Taylor Fritz and Jannik Sinner and Emil Ruusuvuori meet in the quarterfinals.
