ATP Masters Miami: Jannik Sinner easily makes it into the semifinals

Jannik Sinner was the first player to reach the semi-finals at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Miami. The South Tyrolean defeated Emil Ruusuvuori in straight sets in the quarterfinals. The 21-year-old didn't let himself be disturbed even by a rain break of more than two hours.

Next strong performance by Jannik Sinner : After his gala performance against Andrey Rublev, the world number eleven at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Miami followed just one day later with a convincing 6: 3 and 6: 1 quarter-final win against Emil Ruusuvuori. The 21-year-old stayed in Florida without dropping a set.

In the previous year, Sinner had given up in the Miami quarterfinals against Francisco Cerundolo because of blisters on his foot after only five games, twelve months later things were going much better for him. Ruusuvuori never really gained access to the match and was at times played against the wall by the Italian youngster. A rain break of more than two hours at a score of 6:3 and 2:0 did not change that.

In the semifinals, Sinner meets the winner of the encounter between Carlos Alcaraz and Taylor Fritz. In the lower half on Thursday (local time) there will be quarter-final duels Daniil Medvedev against Christopher Eubanks and Francisco Cerundolo against Karen Khachanov.
