ATP Masters Miami: No real "Sunshine Double" in doubles for Isner - or is it?

John Isner also plays in the doubles competition for the title at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Miami. However, not alongside Jack Sock, with whom he last won in Indian Wells.

The first-round task of Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies in Miami will be interesting, to say the least: Because the two Germans, who have already won the title at the French Open twice, have to play against John Isner and Hubert Hurkacz. And so to two people who were already successful in Miami in singles (Isner 2018, Hurkacz last year). And who also bring a lot with them in pair skating. Hurkacz has already won the 1000 event in Paris Bercy together with Félix Auger-Aliassime. And Isner only won for the second time with Jack Sock in Tennis Paradise on Saturday in Indian Wells.

But Sock is missing from Miami's doubles tableau. So should John Isner actually strike again - would that count as a real "Sunshine Double"? All right: Isner/Hurkacz go into the race unseeded, favorites are a priori different. Such as Nikola Mektic and Mate Pavic. Although things are not going well for the Croatians this year, after the early elimination in Indian Wells against Isner and Sock they had to make do with an appearance at the ATP Challenger tournament in Phoenix. And eliminated there in the semifinals against Jan-Lennard Struff and Oscar Otte.

Also at the start will be Thanasi Kokkinakis and Nick Kyrgios, the reigning Australian Open champions. The two Australians start against Santiago Gonzalez and Andres Molteni. And Stefanos Tsitsipas and Feliciano Lopez also make another joint appearance. For the two it starts against Alexander Bublik and Andrey Golubev.
