It wasn't easy for Stefanos Tsitsipas in his first appearance at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Miami. The Greek had benefited from Richard Gasquet's withdrawal after a bye, but opponent Cristian Garin came into the game with a lot of momentum and some sense of achievement. At the decisive moment, however, when the score was 4:4 in the third set, Garin allowed himself a brief phase of weakness. And Tsitsipas knew how to use it, winning 6: 3, 4: 6 and 6: 4.

The next opponent will be Karen Khachanov. The Russian easily defeated Jiri Lehecka 6:2 and 6:4.
Tsitsipas is in second place in Miami - but the man from Athens is very far from his top form, which carried him to the final of the Australian Open at the beginning of the year. What is particularly evident in his backhand: Tsitsipas mostly played it in the slice variant, as he did when he was eliminated in Indian Wells against Jordan Thompson.
