Andrey Rublev and Taylor Fritz had to amuse themselves for almost exactly 100 minutes on Saturday afternoon in the players' area after their semifinals had to be interrupted in the third set when the score was 3:2 for Rublev because of the increasing rain. After the restart, the Russian got off to a better start and immediately took Fritz's serve. But did not manage to use his first two match balls at 5: 2 as a setback.
A few moments later, however, the time had come: Rublev served to 5: 7, 6: 1 and 6: 3 and made it into the final in Monte Carlo for the second time. Two years ago he was defeated there by Stefanos Tsitsipas.
This time it will be against either Jannik Sinner or Holger Rune. These two now have to go to Court Rainier III at the Monte-Carlo Country Club with a long delay.
