Andrey Rublev beat Casper Ruud in straight sets

In his quarter-final victory over the clay court king Rafael Nadal, Andrey Rublev had an absolute dream start and clearly won set one 6: 2. Against Casper Ruud things did not go according to plan for the world number eight, the Norwegian managed the first break to 2-1.

After that, Rublev found his game better and better on Court Rainier III and secured five of the next six games in set one. After the Russian won the first section 6: 3, Rublev was already ahead with a break in the second section.

But Ruud did not give up and in the meantime even led 4: 2 in set two. However, Rublev managed another great comeback and at the crucial moment the break to 6: 5. Subsequently, the 23-year-old served confidently.

With the 6: 3 and 7: 5 success, Rublev qualified for the first ATP Masters 1000 final of his career. In this he meets Stefanos Tsitsipas on Sunday. In addition, the current world number eight will overtake Roger Federer in the ATP charts in the coming week.
