Dan Evans also beat David Goffin

The match after a great sensation is known to be always the most difficult in sport: The higher the performance of Dan Evans , who, after his first sixteen success over the industry leader Novak Djokovic in the round of the last eight, also made the world number 15. David Goffin turned off to assess.

The Briton even gave a 5-3 lead in the first set with four game losses in a row, but the loss of the set didn't seem to bother him in the long term. The 30-year-old turned the game around thanks to numerous net forays and after almost 2:45 hours of play, he used his first match point to win 5: 7, 6: 3 and 6: 4. In the semifinals, Evans meets Stefanos Tsitsipas .

Immediately after the encounter between Evans and Goffin, there was another, albeit not that big, surprise on Court Rainier III: Casper Ruud knocked out defending champion Fabio Fognini with an ultimately clear 6-4 and 6-3 success.

Thus, after last year's event in Rome, the Norwegian is in the semifinals of an ATP Masters 1000 tournament for the second time in his career. In this one he has to deal with Rafael Nadal or Andrey Rublev.
