Stefanos Tsitsipas reached the quarterfinals at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Monte Carlo with a highly concentrated performance. Last year the Greek won the title in the Principality. In the round of 16 on Thursday, the 23-year-old was extremely determined in the decisive moments and defeated the Serb Laslo Djere 7: 5 and 7: 6 (1).
After the disappointing performances at the ATP Masters 1000 events in Miami and Indian Wells, the Greek can once again achieve a sense of achievement in Monte Carlo. Tsitsipas had already shown a strong performance against Fabio Fognini, the winner in Monte Carlo 2019, in the second round and only lost three games on the way to the round of 16.

In the quarter-finals, Tsitsipas could now face an Italian again. Possible quarter-final opponents are Lorenzo Musetti or Diego Schwartzman.
Dimitrov surprises Ruud
Already in the early afternoon Grigor Dimitrov - with a surprising two-set victory over the Norwegian Casper Ruud - and Taylor Fritz reached the round of the last eight. The American also got the upper hand in two sets against compatriot Sebastian Korda. Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, who knocked out Novak Djokovic in round two, is also in the quarterfinals. The Spaniard defeated David Goffin in straight sets.
