But: Stefanos and Petros Tsitsipas had other plans. Namely the ascent in round two. That hung by a thread - because at the score of 9: 7 in the match tie-break, Krawietz and Tecau could have closed the sack.
Ultimately, however, Tsitsipas / Tsitsipas won 7: 6 (3), 3: 6 and 11: 9. In round two, the brothers now face Guido Pella and Cristian Garin, who were able to prevail against Jan-Lennard Struff and Jamie Murray. Which means that there are no longer any German-speaking players in the tableau. Oliver Marach had already drawn the short straw against Fabio Fognini and Diego Schwartzman on the side of Luke Saville on Monday.
