Felix Auger-Aliassime suffered a heavy defeat in Montreal

It could have been so nice: the field at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Montreal was prepared for a minor surprise after the three top seeded players left early, and Felix Auger-Aliassime also presented himself in dazzling fashion in the first two matches in Canada Constitution. And all this with the majority of the audience behind him, since the 22-year-old was born in Montreal.

It has become the clearest and certainly one of the heaviest defeats in Felix Auger-Aliassime's career. In the quarter-final duel with Casper Ruud. After an early break in the first game of the game, the 22-year-old Canadian broke completely, six game wins for Ruud later and the 6-1 set win for the Norwegian was perfect.

Ruud now against Hurkacz

Nothing should change in this tone in the following: Memorable statistics, such as the fact that 20 of Ruud's first 30 points in the match were due to unforced mistakes by his opponent, impressively underlined what a completely messed-up day Felix Auger-Aliassime had caught this Friday. Auger-Aliassime should never really recover from this phase.

In total, Ruud managed to win ten games in a row before Auger-Aliassime wrote again to make it 4-1. No longer as result cosmetics, the French Open finalist from this season made the completely safe 6: 1 and 6: 2 success a little later perfect. Ruud now meets Hubert Hurkacz in the semifinals, who stopped Nick Kyrgios in the last eight. And Felix Auger-Aliassime? He's probably going to have an extremely hard night's rest.
