The French crowd favorite Gael Monfils would like to be part of the two ATP Masters 1000 events in Montreal and Cincinnati again.

Gael Monfils wants to return to the ATP tour in Montreal

Gael Monfils' return to the ATP tour is getting closer and closer. So the current world number 20 would like. after training sessions in Monaco and at the Mouratoglou Academy near Cannes next week at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Montreal. If successful, Günter Bresnik's protégé should also be present at the Masters event in Cincinnati.

Actually, Monfils should have picked up the racket again after his foot injury at the summer sand court swing in Central Europe, but extended his time-out to the disappointment of the spectators and organizers of the tournaments in Hamburg and Kitzbühel. Apparently "La Monf" feels fit enough again to serve on the US hard courts.

In addition, the organizers of the Moselle Open announced that the 35-year-old Parisian will again be part of the indoor hard-court tournament in Metz this year. In 2009, Monfils won the tournament in Alsace. The Frenchman played his last match on May 3 at the Clay Court Masters in Rome, where he lost in two straight sets to eventual tournament winner Novak Djokovic.
