Both players did not bother themselves at the beginning of the match, neither Nadal nor Tsonga found any chances in the first set. So went into a tiebreak in which the world ranking second was a bit more solid and the short decision could decide with 7: 4 for themselves. Overall, the spectators in Paris-Bercy saw in the first round 32 winners with only 14 unforced errors.

Tsonga could not maintain the great level at the beginning of the second set and had to break to 0: 2. Nadal, on the other hand, was in a state of intoxication at times, packing not only outstanding returns and strong ground beats, but also a great Tweener.

Although Tsonga struggled once again, Nadal remained unassailable with their own service and did not miss a single break ball throughout the game. After another break to 5: 1 served the Mallorquin to 7: 6 (4) and 6: 1 success.

Nadal is thus in the semifinals of the ATP Masters 1000 event in Paris-Bercy. In this match, the 19-time Grand Slam champion will face Denis Shapovalov on Saturday before 16:30 CET, knocking off Gael Monfils in straight sets and sending Matteo Berrettini to the ATP finals in London .
