ATP Masters Paris: Novak Djokovic moves safely into the round of 16
Novak Djokovic has reached the round of 16 at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Paris-Bercy. The defending champion beat Maxime Cressy in round two 7:6 (1) and 6:4.

Successful start for Novak Djokovic at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Paris-Bercy: The 21-time Grand Slam champion, who initially benefited from a bye in the French capital, beat the American Maxime Cressy in round two with 7: 6 (1) and 6: 4.
Cressy often presented Djokovic with unpleasant tasks with his serve-and-volley game, but in the decisive moments the long-standing world number one from Serbia acted too hard. Djokovic played a flawless tie-break in the first set, and in the second round the 35-year-old was given a break to make it 5: 4. In the round of 16, the reigning Wimbledon winner meets Karen Khachanov or Marc-Andrea Hüsler.
Rublev and Hurkacz on
In addition to Djokovic, Andrey Rublev is another player in the round of 16. The 25-year-old clearly defeated John Isner 6: 2 and 6: 3 and thus increased his chances of qualifying for the ATP Finals in Turin. Hubert Hurkacz can still dream of this. In Paris, the Pole cleared his first-round hurdle Adrian Mannarino in two sets. With Arthur Rinderknech (against Jack Draper) and Arhur Fils (against Fabio Fognini), two other Frenchmen lost in round one. On the other hand, things went better for Corentin Moutet, who took Borna Coric out of the tournament 3: 6, 6: 3 and 6: 4.
Rafael Nadal now also knows his second-round opponent: The 22-time Grand Slam winner opens in Paris against Tommy Paul, who beat Roberto Bautista Agut 6: 4 and 6: 4. In the purely Spanish duel between Pablo Carreno Busta and Albert Ramos-Vinolas, the former won in straight sets.
