The weather forecast for Rome was bad. And he was accurate. Because the Saturday game plan was whirled up quite a bit by the rain at the beginning. The first to suffer were Andrye Rublev and Alex Molczan, whose match had to be interrupted several times. And that came to an end in the pouring rain with 6: 3 and 6: 4 for Rublev.

Carlos Alcaraz had it better in the middle of the afternoon. The Spaniard started slowly against his compatriot Albert Ramos-Vinolas, but really turned up the heat after an early break. Alcaraz won 6-4 and 6-1. In Roland Garros last year he had to fend off a match point against Ramos-Vinolas.

With this success, it is also clear that Carlos Alcaraz will replace Novak Djokovic as world number one after the tournament in Rome.
