Jannik Sinner didn't make it individually despite the support of the fans in the Foro Italico, but Fabio Fognini and Simone Bolelli are in the semifinals of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Rome after a comeback win against Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies. Fognini/Bolelli won 6:7 (3), 6:4 and 11:9. The two Italians used their third match point.

In the semi-finals, Nikola Mektic and Mate Pavic, the Croatian couple who won almost all relevant titles up to the Olympic Games in Tokyo last year. In the current season, Mektic/Pavic are still waiting for the big sense of achievement, so Bolelli and Fognini can certainly count on chances.

In the second semi-final, John Isner and Diego Schwartzman will face Maximo Gonzalez and Andrey Golubev. Isner could pull off the feat of winning the third 1000 title this season with the third partner. In Indian Wells he had remained successful with Jack Sock, at the following tournament in Miami with Hubert Hurkacz.
