For a very short time, the matter between Cameron Norrie and Novak Djokovic on the Campo Centrale became heated - at the moment when Norrie made the rebreak to 2-2 in the second set. That's exactly when the Brit smashed a ball on the calf of Djokovic, who was already turning away. That didn't go down well with the defending champion. However, Djokovic did not allow any negative emotions and used his second match ball to make it 6: 3 and 6: 4. As expected, the handshake after the match was not particularly friendly.

In the quarterfinals, Novak Djokovic will now face either Australian Alexei Popyrin or Holger Rune. Djokovic lost to the Dane in the final in Paris-Bercy last fall.
