The good news: The fans are back at the Foro Italico. The bad news for Novak Djokovic's fans: They could only admire their idol at work for about an hour. In contrast to his first game against Talyor Fritz, the first in the world rankings did not spoil for long this time, even if Djokovic was only able to use his sixth match point. In the end it was 6: 2 and 6: 1 for the industry leader.

The Spaniard, who struggled through the qualification and defeated Grigor Dimitrov in round one, only kept up until the 2-2 in the first round. Then Djokovic won nine games in a row - and could have won the second set with better exploitation of chances.

The quarter-finals will now be a much bigger challenge: It’s against the winner of the game between Matteo Berrettini and Stefanos Tsitsipas. The Italian made it to the final in Madrid last week, and Tsitsipas was able to win his first 1000 title ever in Monte Carlo this season.
