Novak Djokovic has won five titles in Rome so far, and Aslan Karatsev was not a stumbling block on the way to the sixth. The Russian, who defeated Djokovic on ashes in Belgrade last year, had no chance in the Foro Italico despite an intermediate sprint in the first round at 3: 6 and 2: 6. Djokovic now plays against either Stan Wawrinka or his compatriot Laslo Djere.

Djokovic failed last week in Madrid in the semi-finals against Carlos Alcaraz, but was quite confident in an interview before the start of the event in Rome. The match against Alcaraz could have gone in his direction, according to Djokovic, the form is in any case right.

In the early matches on Tuesday, Miomir Kecmanovic had two match points against Diego Schwartzman, but in the end the Argentine prevailed. John Isner defeated Francisco Cerundolo in straight sets and thus played a duel with Rafael Nadal.
