At the start of the day on court two, Jan-Lennard Struff saw the next setback. The German does not really want to get going on hard court this season, and the Warsteiner also suffered an early defeat at the ATP 250 event in Metz. On Tuesday, Germany's number two had to admit defeat to Sweden's Mikael Ymer in two sets. For Ymer it is now against the number two of the tournament Pablo Carreno Busta.

Things went better for compatriot Philipp Kohlschreiber, who slipped into the main draw of the tournament in France as a lucky loser. The German defeated Marco Cecchinato in two sets in the first lap and will now face Gael Monfils, who will start the race in Metz with three seeded.

The young Dane Holger Vitus Rune provided a strong exclamation mark on Tuesday. The only 18-year-old gave Bernabe Zapata Miralles the maximum penalty in the first round, handed out the "glasses" and moved in 6-0 and 6-0 in round two. There it is now against Lorenzo Sonego. An explosive detail on the side: Zapata Miralles had slipped into the main draw as a lucky loser, in the last qualifying round the Spaniard had to give up round three with 0: 6. In total, the 24-year-old had to hand in 18 games in a row in Metz, with Pole Hubert Hurkacz topping the table in Metz.
