ATP Miami: Daniil Medvedev ends Eubanks' dream journey

Daniil Medvedev has ended Christopher Eubanks' sensational run at the Miami Open and is in the semifinals.

Medvedev won 6: 3 and 7: 5 against the American, who had qualified for the main draw and played his first quarter-finals in a 1000 tournament there.

The 26-year-old sold well against Medvedev, was closer to a break than his opponent in the first round, but didn't use any of his five break chances. Medvedev, until then a bit off track, but struck at the end of the set with his first opportunity. In set two, Eubanks equalized a break deficit, fended off two more match balls spectacularly shortly before the end, but then hit a forehand next to the line - his 35th mistake without need.

"Meddy" is now waiting for the winner of the game between Karen Khachanov and Francisco Cerundolo.

During the night Carlos Alcaraz and Taylor Fritz also play the semi-final opponent for Jannik Sinner.

Eubanks, however, cheered on by Buddy Jamie Foxx in the audience, will be among the top 100 in the world for the first time thanks to his strong run, he is currently ranked 85th in the live ranking.
