"That's not human. You are 15 years old and you play so wonderfully". With these words, Alexander Bublik paid tribute to his opponent Jannik Sinner after the quarter-final match at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Miami. Seconds earlier, the Italian had converted his first match point to 7: 6 (5) and 6: 4 success and thus bought the ticket for the semifinals.

On Friday, Sinner will play against Roberto Bautista Agut for the first time in his career in the semi-final of a 1000 event. For the 19-year-old South Tyrolean, this is the next milestone in his young career. Nevertheless, the world number 31. There is still room for improvement in all areas.

Sinner learns from Nadal

"I still have to improve everywhere. In some games you play well, in others you may make more mistakes. For me the most important thing is to stick with every point and to try the best in every training session and in every match," explained Sinner his victory over Bublik.

These words, they remind a little of Rafael Nadal, with whom the South Tyrolean had prepared for the first Grand Slam tournament of the year in the run-up to the Australian Open. He was able to learn something from his great idol at all levels, said Sinner , who was particularly impressed by the Spaniard's intensity.

No limits for Sinner?

The youngster seems to have taken a lot with him from the units, as he has seamlessly built on his strong performances from the previous season so far this year. In addition, Sinner has become even more athletic in the past few months and pulls his basic strokes through with even more pull.

For the world number 31. it is only a logical step in his development: "I will certainly be a different player again next year and the year after." A player who can be trusted to do anything in the near future.
